3 Days ago I was giving training on timeline. It took me by surprise that not many of my students has the ability to see more than 2-3 years in the future. One comment even say that I only work on what's coming to me.
If I do the same thing this year and the next year and the year after that would there be any changes to my carreer? Would there be any new set of skills you have encountered during those time - most likely not. Doing things base on responsive behaviour most probably would make us do the whole circle before pin pointing the place we wanna be. Excessive energy and agony during the process.
Why not doing it proactively?
Why not think 5 years from now what do I want and from there what skills do I need to support that? Instead of engineering our life by accident.
It is funny how I was once like that also. There just so many plans and all fall flat. Instead of thinking harder not to fall after planning, I decided to take whatever comes and see the skills I got from there. I end up with numerous skills that doesn't serve my purpose being here. I become the busiest people with no exact aim, I was overwhelm.
I have done the machine gun approached as to a sniper one - one shot one killed.
A sniper plan the target, took the time (be patient), have the skill and boom there goes the target. Using machine gun makes a lot of noise some got killed but you never really know which bullet that cause this and not sure how to repeat it (dumb luck), what you have is all this busy sound on your head.
Engineering our own life is the best part of being human it's just a pity some of us put this part to the environment,to other people, to situation or to condition.
I would rather put my faith in my decision than to my circumstances.
So, what are you waiting for.
Think of something you want to accomplish within 5 years?
What efforts do you need?
What barriers that might come up?
What skills do you need to accomplish this?
All things are created twice in our mind and in reality. If we can't picture it or imagining it, which is the most easiest part of the whole process, would we even go through the perseverance and the discipline part?
By doing planning, we become a person who's thriving for accomplishment full of hope and faith instead of being a person who's striving on daily basis and not sure where to go, like a boat without a rotor in an open sea waiting for mercy of the wave to bring back to the island.
Let us become the captain of our own ship! Grab the rotor for God sake!
